Before going on vacation, I attended a sales training course with Ruth Badger called ‘Selling Badger Style’. Now Ruth could sell snow to the Eskimos, so I was interested to find out if her techniques crossed over into the virtual world of the Internet.
It’s often said in sales, that people buy from people, but what is often forgotten is the fact that people see you before your product.
In traditional sales, you make contact with a prospect, either through a telephone call or a physical meeting. So the prospect either hears what you have to say or sees you in person before they know what service or product you are offering.
It’s human nature to develop a first impression, based on the experience you give and that first impression can be the difference between doing business or not.
People buy from people.
Now, in the virtual world of Internet Selling and Internet Marketing, that first impression is made when the visitor views your squeeze page or blog.
So it is really important to display quality content that engages and informs the reader, presented within a blog theme that is easy on the eye and easy to navigate.
With that in mind, I’m looking to change my WordPress Theme and alter the layout of my blog.
Does anyone have any favourite themes that I should use or widgets to recommend?

Hi John
I got mine from Studiopress – they have quite a few themes and the one I got works well.
On another note thanks for your comment and the customising suggestion – I will look at that. Before you start uploading your videos look at the following post. It advises against buying traffic Geyser etc

So true John. People buy from people and with your blog you have to make a lasting impression so people will come back. I am still new at this, but I am trying. I want to have good content and be real. Sometimes it seems a little harder over the internet to do this as you are masked behind the internet and not face to face with the person. Maybe adding content about yourself helps people to realize that you are a real person. I had wrote an about me post.
Actually I like the look of your blog. It looks simple and professional. I have recently been looking around for themes. A couple that I came across myself that I like are the Thesis Theme and the Frugal Theme. You do have to pay for them. I am still trying to decide.
Stay in touch!
Jim
Hi John,
It is so true, first impressions could be the case of a sale or not!
I use the flexibility theme, which is free and VERY customisable. Hopefully I have made a reasonable job of making mine look professional…!
As for plugins, I created a blog post a couple of weeks ago detailing all the plugins I have installed and the links to them so feel free to take a look.

Give me a shout if I can do anything to help!
I have replied to your comment over on my blog

Thanks Paul
I’ve been across to your site and I like the look of the widgets for Top Commentators and the Contact Form, so I think I’ll add those to the blog.

Hello John,
No matter what business you’re in, your success depends on your ability to communicate with people…listen to people…attract people…help people…sell to people…teach and train people…inspire people…share with people…and love people.
The internet is a powerful tool, but we must never lose sight of the fact that it’s still tool to enrich the lives of other people.
